Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound spicy Italian sausage
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 large red onion, diced
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 25-ounce package frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 tablespoon garlic seasoning blend
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water

Instructions

  1. Start by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the spicy Italian sausage, breaking it up and cooking for about five minutes until browned.
  3. Next, stir in the diced red and green bell peppers along with the onion, cooking for an additional 8-10 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and seasonings, stirring for about one minute until fragrant.
  5. Now, pour in the broth and heavy cream, mixing thoroughly and simmering for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, cook the ravioli in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions, reserving 1 cup of pasta cooking water before draining.
  7. Once the ravioli is cooked, fold it gently into the sauce, adjusting the consistency with reserved pasta water as needed.
  8. Let everything simmer on low for 10-15 minutes to absorb flavors.
  9. Serve hot, optionally garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs.

Notes

For extra texture, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or spinach. Adjust crushed red pepper flakes for desired heat. To store leftovers, refrigerate for 2-3 days and reheat gently.
