A comforting blend of seasoned ground beef, creamy layers of potatoes, and gooey melted cheese, perfect for chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced thinly
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Add the ground beef and chopped onions to a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Cook until the beef is fully browned, draining the excess fat.
  4. Combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  5. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish generously.
  6. Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of the dish.
  7. Add half of the cooked beef mixture atop the potatoes, followed by half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  8. Repeat the layering process: potatoes, beef, and cheese.
  9. Pour the creamy soup mixture over everything.
  10. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese bubbles and the potatoes are tender.
  12. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For richer flavor, allow the casserole to sit before baking. Consider using fresh ingredients and greasing the baking dish well to avoid sticking.
