  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Valentine’s-themed sprinkles
  • For the frosting:
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • Red or pink food coloring, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Beat together the butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well, then add the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Pour the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and sprinkles.
  7. Line a heart-shaped pan with parchment paper and spread the dough evenly.
  8. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until golden edges form.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Beat together the frosting ingredients until smooth.
  11. Frost the cooled cookie cake and add decorations as desired.
  12. Slice and serve.
