Deliciously crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, these Homemade Fried Cheese Bites are the perfect comfort food appetizer for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or your favorite melting cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cheese: Cut the cheese into bite-sized cubes and freeze for about 30 minutes.
  2. Set up the breading station: Place flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic and onion powders in separate bowls.
  3. Coat the cheese: Roll the frozen cheese cubes first in flour, then dip in eggs, and finally coat in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Heat the oil: In a deep skillet, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the cheese bites: Add a handful of coated cheese bites into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Drain and cool: Remove the fried bites with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  7. Serve warm: Enjoy with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For best results, freeze cheese cubes before frying to maintain their shape. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even cooking.
