Delicious low-carb burgers using cabbage as buns, filled with savory ground beef or turkey patties.

Ingredients

  • 1 small head of cabbage, cut into thick slices
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the cabbage into ½ inch thick rounds and brush both sides with olive oil.
  3. Combine the ground beef (or turkey), onions, garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and egg in a mixing bowl.
  4. Form patties from the meat mixture, matching the size of each cabbage round.
  5. Arrange the cabbage burgers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for about 25 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle cheese over each patty and broil for an additional 3-5 minutes until melted.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs or sauce.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in diced jalapeños or fresh herbs into the meat mixture.
