  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for the cream cheese mixture)
  • 1 egg (for the cream cheese mixture)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for the cream cheese mixture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium bowl and whisk in the sugar until combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract and red food coloring until blended.
  5. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Beat the cream cheese and sugar in another bowl until smooth, then add the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  9. Spoon cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie batter and swirl it gently.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  11. Let the brownies cool before lifting them out of the pan using the parchment paper.
