Baked Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs are a delightful combination of savory meat and gooey cheese, perfect as an appetizer or a hearty dinner.

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for stuffing)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
  2. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Mix everything thoroughly until well incorporated.
  4. Take a small amount of the meatball mixture, flatten it in your palm, and place about 1 tablespoon of shredded mozzarella cheese in the center.
  5. Carefully form the meat around the cheese, sealing it inside, and roll it into a smooth ball.
  6. Place each meatball on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake the meatballs for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat and add red pepper flakes if desired.
  9. Serve the meatballs with marinara sauce and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

To ensure your meatballs are perfectly cooked, use a meat thermometer; they should reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
