Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 wheel of brie cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups blackberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar, plus extra for pecans
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 basil leaves
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and prepare the brie by removing the top layer of rind.
  2. Place the brie on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the blackberries, 1/4 cup sugar, water, salt, and balsamic vinegar, gently mashing the mixture.
  4. Cook over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Once thickened, remove from heat and add basil leaves, allowing them to steep for 10 minutes before discarding.
  6. In a skillet over medium-high heat, toast the pecans until fragrant.
  7. Add the remaining sugar and butter, stirring until the sugar melts, then cool on a plate.
  8. Top the baked brie with blackberry sauce and sprinkle with candied pecans.
  9. Bake the brie for 5-7 minutes until warmed through.
  10. Serve with assorted crackers.

Notes

Consider adding lemon juice to the blackberry sauce for a zesty twist. Substitute walnuts for pecans if desired.
