A comforting dish featuring tender beef, caramelized onions, and egg noodles topped with melted Swiss cheese, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef stew meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef stew meat in a single layer and brown it on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside. In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced onion and sauté for about 10-12 minutes until they are golden and caramelized.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the onions and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Return the browned beef to the skillet, then pour in the beef broth along with Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, cover, and let cook for about 30 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  6. After the beef has simmered for 30 minutes, gently stir in the cooked egg noodles. Top with shredded Swiss cheese and cover again to allow the cheese to melt, about 5 minutes.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

For richer flavor, brown the beef well and caramelize the onions slowly. Adjust seasoning to taste throughout the cooking process.
