Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine the dry mixture with the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Roll tablespoon-sized portions of dough into balls and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  9. Cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a unique flavor, try adding chopped nuts or varying the type of chocolate chips used. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
