Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
  • Green food coloring (for decoration)
  • Green sugar sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, cream cheese, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add it to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  4. Roll portions of the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Gently flatten each ball.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  6. Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for icing until smooth. Add green food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
  7. Spread the icing generously on cooled cookies and sprinkle with green sugar if desired.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the dough for best results. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
