A hearty, cheesy casserole that brings warmth to your table, perfect for family dinners and potlucks.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 14 oz can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 ½ cups cooked pasta (elbow macaroni or rotini)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, then sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, frozen peas, oregano, salt, and black pepper; let simmer briefly before removing from heat.
  5. Combine the cooked pasta with the beef mixture in a large mixing bowl.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  7. Layer the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.
  8. Mix crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs with melted butter, then sprinkle on top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure your pasta is cooked al dente to avoid mushiness as it will continue to cook in the oven.
