A hearty casserole that combines ground beef, creamy sour cream, and fluffy hash browns, perfect for family gatherings or a cozy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups frozen hash browns, thawed
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  3. Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned (about 5-7 minutes) and drain excess fat.
  4. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet; cook until translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
  5. Combine thawed hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, half of the cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika in a large bowl.
  6. Fold in the cooked beef mixture until well combined.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish and top with the remaining cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes, garnish with green onions, and serve warm.

Notes

Ensure hash browns are completely thawed for even cooking. Drain excess fat from beef for a lighter dish. Can be prepared overnight for convenience.
