Delightful donuts combining the richness of crème brûlée with fluffy, freshly baked donut texture and a crisp caramel topping.

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Combine the milk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and almond extract in another bowl.
  4. Mix the wet and dry ingredients until just blended.
  5. Fill the donut pan with the batter evenly.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare the glaze by heating heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until dissolved.
  8. Whisk in the butter until smooth.
  9. Dip each warm donut into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off.
  10. Sprinkle with brown sugar and caramelize for the perfect finishing touch.
