A delightful dish featuring crunchy shrimp with a sweet and rich honey glaze, complemented by candied walnuts.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds extra-large or jumbo shrimp
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine the mayonnaise, heavy cream, honey, and lemon juice in a bowl. Stir until smooth.
  2. Peel and devein the shrimp.
  3. Whisk the egg whites until frothy in a medium bowl.
  4. Mix panko breadcrumbs, cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and white pepper in another bowl.
  5. Coat each shrimp in the egg white mixture, then roll in the dry mixture.
  6. Heat oil in a heavy pot to 350°F. Fry the shrimp in small batches for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Drain shrimp on paper towels.
  8. Boil the walnuts, brown sugar, and water in a saucepan for 5 minutes.
  9. Strain walnuts and cool on parchment.
  10. Toss the shrimp with the honey walnut sauce and garnish with candied walnuts and sliced green onions.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough for perfect crunch; use fresh shrimp for better presentation.
