Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the coating by mixing the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a shallow bowl.
  2. Beat the egg in another shallow bowl.
  3. Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  4. Coat each mushroom slice in the flour mixture, then dip it into the beaten egg, and roll in the breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat until hot.
  6. Fry the coated mushrooms in batches, 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer the fried mushrooms to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, ranch seasoning, lemon juice, salt, and pepper for the dip.
  9. Serve the fried mushrooms hot with the ranch dipping sauce.

Notes

Use fresh mushrooms for best results and avoid overcrowding the frying pan. Experiment with different spices for a unique twist.
