Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups non-alcoholic beer
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 pound cod fillets
  • 2 cups crushed cornflake crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 quart oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Beat together the non-alcoholic beer, flour, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl until smooth.
  2. Coat the cod fillets in the batter, ensuring each piece is covered.
  3. Mix the cornflake crumbs with Cajun seasoning in a separate bowl.
  4. Dip the coated cod fillets into the crumb mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  5. Heat the oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 365°F (185°C).
  6. Add the coated cod fillets to the hot oil, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 4-6 minutes per side.
  7. Drain the fish on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.

Notes

Ensure oil is hot enough before frying for a crispy texture. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
