Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for filling)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 10×15-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Beat the eggs and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and vegetable oil, mixing until well combined.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cake springs back when lightly touched.
  8. Invert the cake onto a powdered sugar-dusted kitchen towel and peel off the parchment paper.
  9. Roll the cake up tightly in the towel and allow it to cool completely.
  10. Beat the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  11. Heat the heavy cream for the ganache until simmering and stir in the chocolate chips until melted and smooth.
  12. Unroll the cooled cake and spread the whipped cream filling evenly over the surface.
  13. Re-roll the cake tightly without the towel and place it seam-side down on a serving plate.
  14. Pour the ganache over the top, letting it cascade down the sides.
  15. Slice and serve your Chocolate Cake Roll to enjoy.

Notes
