Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (canola or your choice)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup snow peas
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (for the sauce)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your flank steak. Carefully slice it thinly across the grain into 1/2 inch thick, 2-inch long strips. Combine these strips in a medium bowl with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Allow the steak to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of ground ginger for the sauce.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add half of the marinated beef and fry for about 3 minutes until seared and brown. Remove and repeat with the remaining beef.
  4. Stir fry the broccoli, carrots, snow peas, and red bell pepper for about 2 minutes until vibrant and slightly tender.
  5. Return the seared beef to the skillet and pour the prepared sauce over the mixture, stirring well to coat everything thoroughly.
  6. Heat everything thoroughly for another 1-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Top with sliced green onion and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal. Fresh ingredients yield the best flavor and texture.
