Delight in these crispy baguette slices topped with a creamy mixture of sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and rich cheeses.

  • 1 loaf of French baguette, sliced into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brush the baguette slices with olive oil and arrange them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 5-6 minutes until softened and browned.
  4. Add the minced garlic and fresh thyme, sautéing for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, then stir in the Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses.
  6. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Spoon the mushroom mixture over the toasted baguette slices.
  8. Return the toasts to the oven and bake for 5 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
