Comforting gourmet meatballs enveloped in a rich mushroom gravy, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon steak sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Chopped fresh parsley for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Combine the ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, egg, steak sauce, ketchup, mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Shape the mixture into 16-20 meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake the meatballs for 16-20 minutes or until cooked through and slightly browned.
  6. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet and add sliced mushrooms, cooking until soft (5-7 minutes).
  7. Transfer the mushrooms to a plate and set aside.
  8. Melt remaining butter in the same skillet and whisk in flour, cooking until golden (about 2 minutes).
  9. Gradually whisk in beef broth, then tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce, cooking until thickened.
  10. Return the cooked mushrooms to the skillet and stir to combine.
  11. Add the baked meatballs to the gravy and warm through.
  12. Serve topped with gravy and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding finely diced onions or herbs to the meat mixture.
