Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef, cooked
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked pasta (elbow macaroni or rotini)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Toss in the chopped onion and minced garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, frozen peas, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for a minute before removing from heat.
  5. Combine the cooked pasta with the beef mixture in a large mixing bowl.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Layer the cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.
  8. Mix the crushed potato chips with melted butter and sprinkle on top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Remove from the oven and cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken. Add jalapeños for extra heat, or mix cheese into the beef and pasta mixture for an extra cheesy dish.
