  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for buttercream)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for buttercream)
  • Food coloring (pink or red)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until a dough forms.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  7. Cut out the cookies using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool the cookies on a wire rack.
  10. Beat the softened butter with powdered sugar until smooth, adding milk gradually.
  11. Mix in the vanilla extract and divide the buttercream, adding food coloring.
  12. Pipe the buttercream onto the cooled cookies to create beautiful roses.
  13. Allow the buttercream to set before serving.
