Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, panko bread crumbs, parsley, allspice, nutmeg, onion, garlic powder, pepper, and salt in a medium bowl. Crack in the egg and mix well.
  2. Shape the mixture into 12 large meatballs or 20 smaller ones, depending on your preference.
  3. Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the meatballs for 7-10 minutes until browned on all sides. Transfer to a plate.
  4. Add 4 tablespoons of butter to the same skillet and whisk in the flour until golden brown.
  5. Gradually stir in the beef broth and heavy cream until smooth. Add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Let simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Serve the meatballs over creamy egg noodles or fluffy rice.

Notes

For denser meatballs, avoid overmixing the meat mixture. Consider using a meat thermometer to ensure they are cooked through.
