Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, panko bread crumbs, parsley, allspice, nutmeg, onion, garlic powder, pepper, and salt in a medium bowl. Crack in the egg and mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into 12 large meatballs or 20 smaller ones, rolling them firmly yet gently.
  3. Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for about 7-10 minutes, turning them continuously until browned and cooked through. Transfer to a plate, covering with foil to keep warm.
  4. Add 4 tablespoons of butter in the same skillet and whisk in the flour. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it turns golden brown.
  5. Gradually stir in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth, seasoning with Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and allow it to thicken.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet and let them simmer for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  7. Serve the meatballs over egg noodles or rice.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, sauté chopped garlic and onions before adding flour. Consider mixing ground beef with turkey for a lighter version.
