  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar (for fudge sauce)
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder (for fudge sauce)
  • 11/4 cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare your baking pan by lightly greasing a 9-inch square pan.
  3. Boil the water in a kettle.
  4. Mix the dry ingredients for the cake in a bowl.
  5. Add wet ingredients and whisk until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into the baking pan.
  7. Prepare the fudge sauce mix in a separate bowl.
  8. Sprinkle the fudge mix over the cake batter without mixing.
  9. Add boiling water over the top without stirring.
  10. Bake for about 35 minutes.
  11. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.
  12. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
