This dish features perfectly seared scallops enveloped in a spicy, creamy Cajun sauce, creating an elegant and flavorful entrée.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces large sea scallops
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup chicken or seafood broth
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Rinse scallops under cold water and pat dry. Season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add butter.
  3. Sear scallops for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, flip and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, lower heat, add garlic and shallot; sauté until fragrant.
  5. Stir in Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes; toast for a minute.
  6. Slowly add heavy cream and broth; let simmer until slightly thickened.
  7. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted, then add lemon juice.
  8. Return scallops to the sauce, coat well, garnish with parsley, and serve.

Notes

Don’t overcrowd the pan when searing scallops for best results. Adjust spice levels according to your preference.
