Crispy, golden brown potato wedges reminiscent of the beloved fast-food chain, easy to prepare at home for a comforting snack or side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (237 ml)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour (120 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 5 large russet potatoes
  • Shortening for frying (or canola oil)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the milk and egg in a bowl until fully combined.
  2. Mix the flour, seasoned salt, ground black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder in a separate bowl.
  3. Clean and slice the russet potatoes into wedges about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Soak the potato wedges in the milk mixture for a few minutes.
  5. Heat shortening or canola oil to 375°F (190°C) in a pot.
  6. Toss the soaked potato wedges in the seasoned flour mixture, coating them thoroughly.
  7. Fry the wedges in small batches for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Return the wedges to the hot oil for another 4-6 minutes for extra crispiness.
