Delightful sugar cookies decorated to resemble the charming Lily of the Valley flowers, perfect for elevating any occasion.

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • White and green royal icing for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  4. Cream together the softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the mixture, then beat until smooth.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. If the dough feels stiff, add 2-3 tablespoons of milk gradually until workable.
  8. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and use cookie cutters to shape it.
  9. Place cookies on the baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  10. Let cookies cool on a wire rack before decorating.
  11. Once cooled, decorate with royal icing.
  12. Allow icing to set before serving or packaging.

Notes

Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother mix. Don’t overwork your dough, and allow cookies to cool completely before icing.
