  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a spacious bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, folding gently until combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden and the centers look set.
  9. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes for thicker cookies. Measure flour correctly to avoid dense cookies.
