Delicious and tender Maryland Crab Cakes packed with fresh crab meat and seasoned to perfection, ideal for appetizers or a special gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh crab meat
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Tartar sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine the fresh crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and parsley in a large mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper, then mix gently to keep the crab meat chunks intact.
  2. Form small portions of the mixture into 2-3 inch patties, pressing gently to hold their shape.
  3. Cook the cakes in a skillet with melted butter over medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Drain the cooked crab cakes on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.

Notes

Be gentle when mixing ingredients to preserve the crab meat texture. Refrigerating the mixture before forming patties helps them hold shape during cooking.
