Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking fully after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder in another bowl.
  6. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Drop balls of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and centers remain soft.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Ensure your butter is melted but not hot to prevent cooking the eggs. Don’t overmix the dough to maintain a tender cookie.
