Delightful fusion of savory flavors and gooey cheese, perfect comfort food for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix everything thoroughly until well incorporated.
  3. Take a small amount of the meatball mixture, flatten it gently in your palm, and place about 1 tablespoon of shredded mozzarella cheese in the center.
  4. Carefully form the meat around the cheese, ensuring it is entirely sealed, and roll it gently into a smooth ball.
  5. Place each meatball on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each for even cooking.
  6. Bake the meatballs for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown on the outside and cooked through.
  7. Heat the marinara sauce in a separate saucepan over medium heat and add red pepper flakes if desired.
  8. Serve the meatballs warm with marinara sauce drizzled over, garnished with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet for even cooking. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure meatballs reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
