Oven Baked Cabbage Burgers

A delightful twist on traditional burgers, using cabbage slices as a healthy, comforting alternative.

Ingredients

  • 1 small head of cabbage, cut into thick slices
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the cabbage into ½ inch thick rounds, then brush both sides with olive oil.
  3. Combine the ground beef (or turkey), chopped onions, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and egg (if using) in a mixing bowl.
  4. Form patties from the meat mixture, matching the size of each cabbage round.
  5. Arrange the cabbage burgers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle the cheese over each patty and broil for an additional 3-5 minutes until melted.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs or your favorite sauce.

Notes

For variation, use leaner cuts of meat, substitute half with grated vegetables, or go vegetarian with lentils or beans.
