Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of white cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • Purple gel food coloring in light, medium, and dark tones
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour mini cake pans to prevent sticking.
  3. Prepare the white cake mix according to package directions in a large mixing bowl, combining it with eggs, vegetable oil, and water until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter into three bowls, adding different shades of purple gel food coloring to each bowl and mixing until you achieve the desired colors.
  5. Pour the colored batter into the mini pans, starting with the darkest shade at the bottom and layering the lighter shades on top.
  6. Place the pans in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  7. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool completely before frosting.
  8. Prepare the frosting by beating the softened butter until creamy, then gradually adding the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Frost each mini cake with different shades of purple frosting using a spatula or piping bag.

Notes

Ensure cakes cool completely before frosting to prevent melting. Adjust food coloring to your liking for different shades.
