Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of chocolate cookie crumbs (such as Oreos, without filling)
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups of semisweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream (divided)
  • 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of heavy whipping cream (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar (for topping)
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. Combine the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter in a medium bowl and stir until well-coated.
  3. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of your prepared pan to form a crust.
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes, then allow to cool completely.
  5. Heat 1 cup of heavy whipping cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  6. Pour this hot cream over the chocolate chips and let it sit for 2 minutes.
  7. Stir gently until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  8. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  9. Whip the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form.
  10. Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.
  11. Pour the mousse filling onto the cooled crust and smooth with a spatula.
  12. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours—or overnight for best results.
  13. Whip the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form and spread over the mousse.
  14. Garnish with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder.

Notes

Ensure that the chocolate is melted smoothly without overheating to avoid a grainy texture. Patience during the chilling phase enhances flavors.
