  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the French bread in half lengthwise and brush each cut side with olive oil.
  3. Sprinkle the minced garlic evenly over the surface.
  4. Bake the garlic bread for about 10 minutes until crispy and golden.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, onion, and green pepper, and cook until the meat is browned.
  6. Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper, and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture over the toasted garlic bread.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top and return to the oven for another 10 minutes.
  9. Cut into slices and serve warm.
