Flavorful, crispy chicken strips marinated in tangy buttermilk and spiced with Cajun seasoning, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: Place the chicken strips in a bowl, pour in buttermilk, and sprinkle with Cajun seasoning. Toss to coat, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the breading: In a shallow bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Coat the chicken: Remove chicken from the marinade, shake off excess, and dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.
  4. Fry the strips: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Drain and serve: Transfer cooked strips to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate overnight. Ensure oil is at the right temperature to achieve crispiness.
