Delightful flaky pastries with creamy layers of sweet cream cheese and ripe strawberries, perfect for brunch or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into squares, each measuring 3×3 inches.
  3. Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice in a bowl until smooth.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese filling in the center of each pastry square, then fold the edges over to seal in this creamy treasure. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  5. Mix the sliced strawberries with sugar and lemon juice; let them sit for 10 minutes.
  6. Bake the pastries for 15-18 minutes until they are golden brown and crisp.
  7. Cool slightly, then spoon the strawberry mixture generously on top of each Danish.

Notes

For best results, ensure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature. Handle puff pastry while cold for flakiness.
