A vibrant and savory dish that brings the zest of Sichuan cuisine with tender chicken and crisp broccoli in a mouthwatering sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of chicken breast
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 3 cups of broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons of water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the sliced chicken breast. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until fully cooked.
  2. Remove the chicken from the pan, allowing it to rest while you prepare the vegetables.
  3. Add a bit more oil if necessary, then toss in the broccoli florets. Stir-fry for approximately 3-4 minutes until they turn a bright green and are slightly tender yet still crisp.
  4. Incorporate the minced ginger and garlic to the pan and sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the pan, letting it mingle with the broccoli.
  6. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and optional crushed red pepper flakes. Stir everything well to ensure that the chicken and broccoli are evenly coated in the sauce.
  7. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and allow it to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  8. Serve hot, pairing it with steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

For best results, chop your chicken and vegetables ahead of time and make sure your pan is hot before cooking.
