A delicious comfort food featuring tender beef cube steaks coated in a crispy crust and served with creamy gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 beef cube steaks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup pan drippings or butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder in a shallow dish.
  2. Whisk together the eggs and 1/2 cup milk in another shallow dish.
  3. Dredge each cube steak in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and again in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry the coated steaks in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the steaks from the pan and drain on paper towels.
  7. For the gravy, use the pan drippings, add flour, whisk for 1-2 minutes, then gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, cooking until thickened.

Notes

For crunch, let the coated steaks rest before frying. Serve piping hot with sides like mashed potatoes or biscuits.
