Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake with a Decadent Twist

A luscious dessert featuring layers of dark, milk, and white chocolate mousses over a moist chocolate cake.

  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 cup white chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups heavy cream, divided
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions, mixing in eggs, water, vegetable oil, and sour cream, and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  4. Heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream until hot, then pour it over dark, milk, and white chocolate separately.
  5. Add vanilla extract and salt to each chocolate mixture.
  6. Whip the remaining heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form, then fold it into each chocolate mixture.
  7. Slice the cooled cake in half horizontally.
  8. Layer dark chocolate mousse on the bottom layer, add the second layer of cake, top with milk chocolate mousse, and finally layer with white chocolate mousse.
  9. Chill the cake in the fridge for at least 240 minutes.
  10. Garnish with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better texture. Be patient when cooling the cake and chilling the mousse.
