  • 3 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce and tomato slices for garnish
  • Ketchup and mustard to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Start by making the onion rings: In a mixing bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Dip each onion ring into the buttermilk, letting excess drain off, and then coat it in the flour mixture.
  2. Fry the onion rings: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully add the coated onion rings to the oil and fry for 3-4 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crisp. Remove them, placing them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  3. Prepare the beef patties: Season the beef patties generously with salt and pepper. Grill or pan-fry the patties over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. Melt the cheese: During the last minute of cooking, place one slice of cheddar, one slice of American, and one slice of Swiss cheese on top of each patty, allowing it to melt beautifully.
  5. Toast the buns: While the patties finish, toast your hamburger buns in the same skillet or on the grill until they achieve a nice golden brown.
  6. Assemble your burger: Start with the bottom bun, placing the first cheesy patty on it, followed by a layer of crisp lettuce and a slice of juicy tomato. Repeat with the second patty topped with cheese and then add the third patty.
  7. Complete the burger: Top with a generous pile of crispy onion rings. Spread ketchup and mustard on the top bun and place it on the burger.
