A heartwarming and customizable soup filled with savory broth, fresh vegetables, and tender handmade wontons, perfect for any weekday dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of wonton wrappers
  • 1 pound ground chicken or turkey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups bok choy, chopped
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground chicken (or turkey), soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic in a mixing bowl. Mix until all the ingredients are well blended.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place a teaspoon of filling in the center. Moisten the edges with a drop of water. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle shape before pressing it to seal.
  3. Bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to secure, creating a pouch. Repeat this with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. Bring the chicken broth and water to a rolling boil in a large pot.
  5. Add the wontons to the bubbling broth and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
  6. Stir in the chopped bok choy and sliced mushrooms, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until they soften.
  7. Season the soup with salt and pepper according to your taste.
  8. Ladle the warm soup into bowls, garnishing each serving with freshly sliced green onions.

Notes

To enhance flavor, consider adding chili oil, baby corn, or snow peas. You can use store-bought dumplings for convenience.
