Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, or mahi-mahi)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, plus extra for garnish
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Pat the fish dry and rub it with this aromatic mixture.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place the seasoned fish in the hot skillet and cook for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side until it flakes easily with a fork.
  3. Combine shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, chopped red onion, cilantro, and jalapeño (if using) in a mixing bowl.
  4. Whisk together mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt), lime juice, honey, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl, then drizzle this dressing over the slaw mixture and toss well.
  5. Warm the tortillas in a skillet until soft and pliable.
  6. Break the cooked fish into chunks and distribute it among the warmed tortillas. Top each taco with the cilantro lime slaw.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with extra cilantro and lime wedges.

Notes

Utilize fresh ingredients for enhanced flavor and customize the slaw by adding avocado or mango for extra flavor.
