  • 150g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 350g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • White and colored icing (for decoration)
  • Food coloring (yellow, green, pink, blue)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the bowl, mixing until fully combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.
  6. If the dough is too soft, refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  8. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters for chick and flower designs.
  9. Place the cookies on the lined baking sheet with space between them.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are just golden.
  11. Cool the cookies completely on a wire rack.
  12. Prepare icing by dividing it into bowls and adding food coloring.
  13. Use a piping bag to decorate the cooled cookies with icing.
  14. Let the icing dry completely before serving.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature and don’t skip the chilling step for the dough.
